My Story
My mom, who is the biggest influence on my life, was a huge fan of the TV show, "Gilmore Girls" where one of the main characters aspires to be a journalist. It was a show that we always had on and I have many memories of lounging on the couch with my mom, who could recite lines, watching countless episodes. Ever since then, becoming a journalist has always been a possibility sitting in the back of my mind.
A lot of my peers are diehard sports fans trying to translate their passion for their favorite teams and sports into a career. But I like to say that I was a journalist first before I became a sports journalist. Once I discovered journalism I realized that sports was a motivator for me, telling athletes' stories and covering games and I then combined the two.
My sophomore year of high school, I decided to enroll in the basic journalism class offered at my school. I became extremely motivated in this class and fell in love with journalism.
That's when I combined my love for sports and journalism and found my passion. During my junior and senior year I became a top editor of our newspaper and ran our entire sports department. From traveling hours to games and covering championships to writing athlete features, I knew that this was something I wanted to pursue.
"Success doesn't happen overnight. Keep your eye on the prize and don't look back."

When I found Cronkite, I was eager with all of the opportunities it could offer me. I broadened my journalistic horizons and realized that there are so many jobs within the industry. It was a big adjustment for me moving to a different state away from my family, but I knew it was the right decision for me.
If college has taught me anything so far, it has been to seize every moment and opportunity because it could all be gone in the blink of an eye.
